The location of the hotel was excellent. It was close to the beach front, and a walking distance to the city center and the v&a Waterfront. It was a great value for money. The hosts were nice and friendly.
The breakfast was great but very easy to get bored of. However, there was the option of buying your choice of breakfast from the one offered at the hotel so in the end, not a bad choice.

The staffs are very accommodating, helpful, and kind. The owner helped us arranged our tours. The rooms and common areas in the guesthouse are clean. The location is very quiet and secured.

I liked the decoration of the guesthouse and the breakfast which was very tasty, with fresh products and quick service ! I also appreciated the efficient information that was provided and the friendliness of the staff.
It seemed a bit lonely there when I arrived first. Not much people around. But later I saw that other guests were also there.

Ginnegaap was beautiful and relaxing. My parents arrived late from an international flight and were pleasantly surprised to arrive in such a luxurious, quaint guesthouse. The surrounding area has wonderful little shops and boutiques that provided a relaxed day of transition into a semi-urban environment.

The service was really good, excellent breakfast. Nice setting, with lots of options for outdoor space - private spaces for most rooms as well as communal outdoor areas. The rooms are clean and cozy. A lot of effort made to make sure the guests safety is not compromised.
Several rooms are close to the street and with windows open could be a bit noisy.

Definately the staff. Tomas was very personable, and always eager to help. Everyone knew us by our first names which is lovely... location is great too; generally safer than other parts, and did I mention the many restaurents and cafes nearby? Simply great.

The included breakfast was fantastic. More importantly, Corlien did everything possible to make my trip enjoyable, from helping me to arrange taxis to suggesting restaurants. On the one occasion that a problem arose, she acted quickly and decisively to remedy the situation. I would definitely recommend Ginnegaap to someone who wants a calm, safe, neighborhood-feel place to stay in Johannesburg.
There was some noise in the mornings, as there was a playground nearby and my room was next to the breakfast area.

Realy nice and comfy room and friendly staff, location is just fine close to Melville 7th street. Great breakfast area and garden, would be even better if there would be small lounge area inside (garden gets chilly in the night)

The Owner and members of staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Before arrival Corlien assisted with airport transfers, suggestions for trips and locations for meals. We arrived very early in the day but efforts were made to get a room ready as soon as practical. The assistance given was particularly impressive given we were only staying one night.

I stayed in a self-catering room which was actually a small apartment. Although it probably could do with a little smartening up to the fabric of the building, the soft funishings, facilities and generous size of the place were great. The breakfast was very good, with lots of variation in the menu. The staff, especially Thomas, were very helpful - nothing was too much trouble. They also organised a driver called Treasure to pick me up at the airport and he was such a safe and pleasant driver I used him for journeys around town on all 3 days I was there. Finally, the guesthouse is ideally placed with a supermarket 2 minutes walk in one direction and lots of restaurants 3 minutes walk in the opposite direction.
Just the need for some upgrading on the bathroom (rusty window, bare pipes, etc) and some brighter light bulbs.
